Finding a comfortable place to live is sometimes a source of concern for incoming graduate students. There are many housing accommodations available for lease in the Hamden and North Haven areas.

Connecting with other incoming students on social media is another way to find potential roommates and/or housing accommodations. You can find links to the current semester's accepted student WhatsApp chat in the International Q-Start portal.

Off-Campus Housing Resources

Quinnipiac works with a private company, JumpOffCampus, to provide a central place for students to find off-campus housing.

If this is the first time you are looking for off-campus housing, or maybe need some additional helpful hints, then check out this tutorial and many helpful resources for navigating the U.S. off-campus search in the Learning Center created by JumpOffCampus.

More Resources When Renting

  • In My Area: A guide for internet, TV and utility services in the area

  • Rental Insurance: Reviews.com guide to best rental insurance in the area

  • Transportation at Quinnipiac: Shuttle, parking, and bicycle information for Quinnipiac students

  • CT Transit: Schedules, routes, and fare information about CT Transit, the public bus system in Connecticut. The site also offers a "Plan your Trip" feature.

Temporary Housing

Quinnipiac does not offer temporary housing. Students arriving in the U.S. may decide to stay in a hotel or temporary housing before arranging permanent off-campus housing or moving on campus.

Quinnipiac provides a list of hotels and places to stay on our Explore the Area page.  Incoming international students can refer to their Q-Start pre-arrival checklist for a list of airport hotels and information on booking with a discounted rate at the Clarion Hotel & Suites and the Residence Inn by Marriott in Hamden. Temporary accommodation may also be found at any Airbnb or Vrbo listings in the area.

The Office of International Students & Scholars has prepared an Off-Campus Housing Guide for International Students. This helpful guide explains the housing search, a glossary of housing terms, considerations for renting, how leases work, safety tips, and much more. It is a beneficial resource when navigating the rental market in the U.S. for the first time.
